I was recently approached by a tour company. The company specializes in small-group European tours that are often interest focused. The representative said they were intrigued by my content and style. They stated that
The way you trace a single house on Munjoy Hill or in the West End back through its owners, its builders, and the economic forces that shaped the block around it is exactly the kind of history that makes a place feel alive rather than just old. It is a rare skill to make a deed record read like a story.
They have approached me to see if I, and you my readers, would be interested in a tour of a European city/region based around the history and buildings of the area. The possible locations are Porto or Edinburgh. The tours would be 3-5 days and would have local historians and guides. They would be limited to 8-10 people. I would be there to provide my insights into the people who built and lived there much like my articles do now.
Other than getting to and from the destinations, the tours would be all-inclusive. Accommodations would be 4 star. Meals would be 3 star or better with generous portions. There would be excursions and every day would have free time for participants to do their own thing. I for one would love to visit the Falkirk Wheel. I might also host a ‘How To Tell Your House’s Story‘ event at a local establishment.
Cost for the tour would probably be in the $4000-$5000 range although this is not yet determined. A tentative time period would be late spring or early summer of 2028.
